baat — a plain b, a long open aa, and a dental t released almost silently.
baat
The vowel carries everything and the final stop takes almost no time. Compare it with baad, where only the voicing of the last consonant differs — in both cases the vowel does the rhythmic work.

"Mujhe aapse ek baat karnee hai" makes karnee feminine to agree with baat, so the infinitive itself inflects — a construction that surprises most learners. Aapse marks the person addressed with se rather than ko.
English speakers make the final t alveolar and release it audibly, which drags it toward retroflex ठ. It should be dental and nearly silent. Shortening the vowel is the second habit; the aa needs the length of "father," not "bat."
