Hindi · Pronunciation Guide
hum, with a voiced h and a bare schwa — not the long vowel of English "ham."
ham
Short vowel, closed syllable: heavy by position but very brief in duration. As a subject pronoun it sits unstressed at the head of the clause, so it should almost blend into the following word.

"Ham samudra taṭ par jaa rahe haiṁ" needs plural agreement all the way through — rahe and haiṁ — and samudra ends with a consonant cluster plus a final schwa that is normally deleted, so it sounds like sa-mud-r. Taṭ has two retroflex ट sounds bracketing a schwa.
The roman spelling drags English speakers toward the vowel of "ham" or "hum" with a strong voiceless h. Hindi asks for a much weaker, voiced onset and a colourless vowel, so the whole word is quieter and shorter than an English-tuned version.
