Hindi · Pronunciation Guide
khayl — a real puff of air after the k, a flat long e, and a bright front l.
khel
The aspiration front-loads the syllable with audible air before the vowel even starts, so the word feels longer than one beat. That breath belongs to the consonant and should not stretch into a separate syllable.

"Bachchoṁ ko yeh khel bahut pasand hai" uses the nasalized oblique plural bachchoṁ before ko, and bachchaa's geminated affricate survives into that form. Pasand at the end has an all-dental cluster, so the sentence covers gemination, aspiration and dentals in turn.
The puff goes missing, leaving "kel," and the final l darkens into something like "kayaw." Both need separate attention: practise the aspirated k alone with a hand in front of your mouth, then add a bright l with the tongue tip firmly on the ridge.
