Hindi · Pronunciation Guide
MAU-sum with the steady rounded vowel of "caught" — not the diphthong of "mouse" — and a schwa in the second syllable.
mausam
Length lives at the front and the second syllable is a bare schwa, so the word falls away as it goes. That is the reverse of the pattern in most of the Persian-derived nouns nearby, and worth registering as a contrast.

"Aaj mausam kaisaa hai?" makes kaisaa masculine to agree with mausam, so the question word inflects even though the noun does not. Kaisaa's ऐ and mausam's औ are the two long vowels of this type in one short sentence.
Reading au as the diphthong of "mouse" adds jaw movement Hindi does not use — the standard vowel stays motionless in a rounded position. Over-pronouncing the second vowel as a full a is the other slip; it should be a neutral schwa.
