Hindi · Pronunciation Guide
shayr — a flat long e held motionless, and one quick flick of the tongue; not the English word "share."
sher
All the syllable's duration is in the vowel, with the tap contributing effectively nothing — the reverse of the English word it resembles, where the r takes as long as the vowel. Keeping that proportion right is the whole task.

"Sher jangal kaa raajaa hai" uses kaa because raajaa is masculine, and jangal has a velar nasal before the g. Raajaa contains another tap between two long aa vowels, so the sentence has two taps to keep brief.
The word "share" is a single r-coloured vowel with no separate consonant, and that is exactly what comes out by default. Hindi keeps them apart: hold the e steady, then touch the ridge once. Diphthongising the vowel adds time the syllable does not want.
