Hindi · Pronunciation Guide
tayz with a dental t, a flat long e, and a z that buzzes to the very end.
tez
One syllable, long vowel plus a voiced coda, so it is heavy by both measures. The word is short enough that its whole identity rests on vowel length and the voicing of that final consonant, neither of which survives careless speech.

"Yeh gaaṛee bahut tez hai" uses gaaṛee, which contains ड़ — the retroflex flap — so the tongue flicks backwards in the noun and then comes forward to the teeth for the adjective's त. Tez is invariant and does not change for the feminine gaaṛee.
English speakers aspirate the t, place it on the alveolar ridge, and half-devoice the final z. Three small errors that together make the word unrecognisable. Fix the tongue position first — teeth, not ridge — then hold the voicing until the sound actually stops.
