Hindi · Pronunciation Guide
vay with a flat long e, and an initial consonant looser than English v — many speakers say something nearer "way."
ve
One heavy open syllable. In everyday speech this literary plural pronoun is often replaced by voh, so when it does appear it tends to be in careful or written-style registers where its long vowel is fully articulated.

"Ve paas meṁ rehte haiṁ" combines paas with meṁ to mean "nearby," which is a slightly different use from mere paas for possession. The plural shows in rehte and in the nasalized haiṁ, not in ve itself beyond the vowel.
English speakers give it a hard buzzing v and a diphthongised vowel: "vay-ee." Loosen the lip contact until the friction almost disappears, and freeze the tongue for the vowel. Because ve and voh are near-synonyms, a mushy vowel here can genuinely obscure which one you said.
